Technician servicing a gas furnace and checking the heat exchanger CO check every visit
Heat When It Counts

Built for the First Hard Freeze

Our furnaces run a short, hard season out here — and fail at the worst moment. We carry ignitors and flame sensors on the truck and check the heat exchanger for CO on every visit.

Furnace repair, installation, maintenance, and heat pumps — flat-rate, safety-first, quoted before we start.

Furnace Repair

A furnace that won't ignite, runs but doesn't heat, or short-cycles has a diagnosable cause. Common failures: failed ignitor, bad flame sensor, faulty control board, or a tripped high-limit switch from restricted airflow. We carry ignitors and flame sensors on the truck — those are fixed same-day in most cases.

A customer in Solms Landing called on a Saturday in August. AC out. House at 88 inside. Two kids under 10. Justin was there in under 90 minutes — bad contactor, parts on the truck, quoted $275 flat on the phone. The job ran longer because the disconnect box had corroded wiring he repaired while he was in there. Total time: two and a half hours. Invoice: $275. Same as the phone quote. The corroded wiring was a no-charge safety fix because he was already in there and it took 15 minutes. That's what flat-rate actually means.

Check the filter first. A clogged air filter starves the furnace of airflow and trips the high-limit switch as a safety measure — which looks like the system died but is the system protecting itself. Pull the filter. If it's solid grey, replace it and try again before calling anyone. A new filter is $5–$20. A service call is $89.

Furnace Maintenance

Fall is the right time for a furnace tune-up — before the first cold front hits and before every other HVAC company in the county is booked out two weeks. Our heating inspection covers the heat exchanger, ignitor, flame sensor, burners, flue, gas pressure, electrical connections, and a safety check for CO leaks.

A cracked heat exchanger is the one furnace issue you do not want to find out about in the middle of February. It lets combustion gases — including carbon monoxide — mix with the air your furnace circulates through the house. We check for it every time. If we find one, we tell you what it means, what it costs to fix, and what it costs to replace. You decide.

Furnace Installation & Replacement

Furnace lifespan in South Texas with annual maintenance: 15–20 years. Without maintenance: 10–12. If yours is over 15 years old and needs a significant repair, a replacement quote is worth having before you commit to the repair cost.

We do proper load calculations, size to the home, and quote in writing before ordering anything. We install all major brands. Permits pulled where required. We don't push brand loyalty — we push right-sized equipment installed correctly.

Heat Pump Installation & Replacement

A heat pump does both jobs — cools in summer, heats in winter — by moving heat rather than generating it. In South Texas's mild winters, they're highly efficient because there's rarely enough cold to push them into emergency heat mode. For homes looking to replace an aging system or add a second zone, a heat pump is worth a conversation.

We size, quote, and install heat pumps. Call for specifics — the right answer depends on your home's layout, existing ductwork, and how you use the space.

Common Questions

In order: check the thermostat (set to HEAT, set point above current temp, batteries not dead), check the filter (a clogged filter trips the high-limit safety), check the breaker for the air handler and furnace. If all of those are fine and it still won't run — call us.
The heat exchanger separates combustion gases from the air circulated through your home. A cracked heat exchanger can let carbon monoxide mix into that air. It's the furnace failure that matters most from a safety standpoint. We check for it on every heating inspection. If we find a crack, we tell you clearly — no soften, no upsell — just what it is and what your options cost.
In South Texas's mild winters, heat pumps are highly efficient — they move heat rather than generate it, which uses less energy than gas combustion when temperatures are above about 35°F. Below that, they need backup heat. Given that South Texas rarely sustains temperatures that low, a heat pump is often the right call for new installs or system replacements. We'll run the numbers specific to your home.
Once a year, ideally in fall before heating season. In South Texas where the furnace runs maybe 60 days a year, it's easy to skip — and that's exactly how you find out in February that the ignitor failed sometime in March when no one was looking. Annual tune-up is $99. The Comfort Club plan covers both your spring AC check and fall heating check starting from $12 a month.
